CJ recently signed a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates.  He'll be playing for the Indianapolis Indians, where he spent part of last season. The Indy Indians open up the 2006 season on the road in Pawtucket, Rhode Island against the Pawtucket Red Sox on April 6th. I hope to attend 2 of the games. Good luck to CJ in Spring Training with the Pirates.

PITTSBURGH -- Left-hander C.J. Nitkowski has reached terms on a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The 30-year-old Nitkowski, who has pitched for eight teams in the majors since 1995, has a split contract that will pay him $500,000 in the majors and $72,000 in the minors.

Nitkowski was 0-0 with an 8.10 ERA in seven games with Washington last season after going to spring training with Minnesota. He also has pitched for the New York Yankees and Mets, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Houston and Texas.

He has a 18-32 record and 5.37 ERA in 336 career games.

CJ's dream was to play for the team he grew up rooting for as a kid. He got that wish towards the end of last season. He is a native New Yorker. I can't think of anything more exciting for him in his baseball career then to get a chance to pitch for both the Yankees and Mets.

I started to become a fan of his when he pitched for the Houston Astros in the late 90's. I was surfing the web, and I came across a website maintained by C.J. I thought it was neat that a professional athlete took the time to interact with the fans and maintain a website to update fans on the life of a professional athlete. The site includes golf courses that C.J. played at, restaurant reviews from all the major league cities, FAQ, autograph info, a biography, photos from different parks, etc. as well as the impact God has has had on his life. He referred me to the book, The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. For anyone who has not read it, I strongly suggest you do. Everyone can relate to the content in the book. I appreciate him referring me to the book. He does a great job at maintaining his own website, and I look forward to checking out the updates. He also has an email address Cnitkowski@aol.com where you can send emails to him. He is good about getting back to people. If you have a question about baseball or about God/biblical content, I am sure he would love to hear from you.

C.J. is a talented pitcher, but the reason I became a huge fan of his was because I saw how much he cared about his fans. He is very nice as well as down to earth. Fortunately, I was able to meet him for the first time at Spring Training in Lakeland, Florida. He was on the Detroit Tigers. He signed a Tigers hat for me and a baseball for my friend and also posed for pictures with us. (Thanks C.J.).  I wrote a column for his site.  Fans had a chance to write about a series against another team. I want to thank C.J. for giving me a chance to do the write-up. It was a lot of fun.

A little about me but not too much, this site is about CJ...I am not some crazy groupie, obsessed freak, or stalker. I am a sports nut who lives and breathes sports 24-7. I have worked in sports-related fields and I studied sports management in college. I don't care about the guys. I watch and go to sporting events because I love watching sports. I can rattle off stats and talk about games for hours. I also have a passion for web design because I took it in college and I love making website tributes out of support for my favorite players. I combine my 2 favorite passions which are web design and sports. I also collect autographs and memorabilia.

Thank you for visiting my site. Please check back often for updates. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions regarding my site please e-mail me at BravesFans@aol.com . Feedback is welcomed. Stay tuned for my player tribute websites. I plan to make tribute sites for my favorite baseball and hockey players as well as NASCAR drivers. Please be patient. I felt C.J. was the most deserving of a site, which is why I made his first.
